In the process of putting together my next book, Best Travel Guide to Ireland's Lesser Known Destinations, I realized there were still a number of places that I really wanted to include but hadn't yet been able to explore.
Truly, there is so much to see and do in Ireland, it would take a lifetime to experience it all.
I came to the realization that another trip must be in order and I've already scheduled a number of pretty exciting things that I think readers will love to know more about. I'm going to be visiting a few of the sites where the History Channel show "Vikings" has been filmed around Wicklow National Park as well as meeting with an ancient Ireland history expert in the area where Irish king Brian Boru grew up and visiting a church he attended over 1,000 years ago. The Hook Head Peninsula in County Wexford is another beautiful, yet often overlooked treasure that I'll be spending time in, including taking a spooky tour of Loftus Hall. Two nights on Inis Oirr, the smallest of the Aran Islands, is on the agenda, and I'll also be exploring more of the northwest coast.
Of course, there is a lot more, in addition to other "hidden" places and wonderful people that I'm sure I'll discover along the way.
Will keep this updated as things progress! As always, feel free to email or comment here with any questions or suggestions.
